Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a love letter to its franchiseand the Disney+ series is littered with references to previous stories set in a galaxy far, far away. From dropping the sneaky Star Wars: The Clone Wars easter eggs. until even bringing back the classic Star Wars swear words.creators Christopher Ford and John Watts are clearly fans of the property's authenticity and history. This trend continues in episode 7, "We're Gonna Be in So Much Trouble," which features a subtle nod to some pirates from the Expanded Universe, aka Star Wars Legends.

In the episode, Brutus (Fred Tatassiore) and Jodh Na Naud (Jude Law) set out to find Atin so they can rob the hidden planet of its wealth. They eventually stumble upon the planet that Brutus' crew think is their destination and send Glerb (Jacob Roanhaus) to investigate in a sloth fighter. It doesn't end well for him.

However, before embarking on his mission, the pirate says "Ravager One is ready", reminiscent of a gang known as the Ravagers. The Legends villains were based on the planet Rishi before Galactic Civil War, and it seems the Skeleton Crew have now sneaked them into the Disney-era Star Wars canon - but who are they and what's their job?

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew already pays homage to Pirates of the Caribbean and "Treasure Planet," showing that the series owes as much to Disney's Adventures and other works as it does to everything that came before in the galaxy far, far away. What's more, thanks to Jodh Na Naud and Brutus, the Skeleton Crew enhances the franchise's pirate lore with its own original creations. However, the aforementioned scene in episode 7 takes a moment to pay homage to the galaxy's most evil marauders of the past.

The Ravagers debuted in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic: Shadow of Revan, and let's just say they have a bad reputation. The crew was originally captained by a pirate named Rugar, but he was overthrown by his lieutenant Koratani because it's a pirate story without mutiny, right? The bandits are also known to gleefully kill people, making Jod's mistreatment of the Skeleton Crew's children look like a daycare center by comparison.

As of this writing, it is unknown if Glerb and his crewmates are directly related to the Ravagers. The Skeleton Crew is set during the New Republic era, so the Ravagers may have been ahead of their time. However, the series' pirates could have family ties to the Ravagers, or perhaps Glerb just wanted to pay homage to the legendary possession. However, Glerb's subtle name-drop suggests that the Ravagers are familiar in this timeline and are no longer the forgotten Legends continuity villains they used to be.
