Thomas explained that he is not running away, nor is his decision based on the broken relationship with Meghan and Harry, but rather that he is looking for "peace" and "kinder people".
Thomas Markle, who has not seen his son-in-law Prince Harry since marrying Meghan Markle, also discussed the possibility of finally meeting the Duke of Sussex or his granddaughters, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Meghan Markle's father is leaving America 'for a new life' abroad
Thomas has revealed that he plans to make drastic changes in his life after years of questioning and controversy surrounding his relationship with his daughter.
In conversation with Daily MailThomas noted that he was leaving America behind and was looking for a "fresh start" abroad to allow himself some decorum in his final years.
"I'm ready for a change. I've felt stuck in a rut for a while and I'm ready to meet new people and experience kindness," he told the news outlet.
Meghan and Thomas were once close, but their relationship took a serious hit after he posted paparazzi photos ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, which he missed after suffering two heart attacks the day before the event.

Recalling past moments with the former "Suits" actress, the 80-year-old showed Meghan's school report card to the outlet, describing her as a child who "shows constant effort and is active in classroom discussions."
He apparently keeps a few sentimental items, like family albums, that remind him of Meghan, whom he calls "Megsy."

The Duchess's father is thinking about Southeast Asia
Thomas' decision to flee the country is not because of Meghan and Harry but because of his sanity. He revealed that he wanted to move to Southeast Asia.
"I don't know where I'll end up, but it's time to move on and find a place where I can live among kind people and enjoy the time I have left," he said.
"I traveled to that part of the world when I was younger. The people are so kind and welcoming and they respect older people," Thomas said of his potential destination. "It is a place of culture and beauty."
The Emmy-winning Hollywood lighting director has not renewed the lease on his clifftop home in Rosarito, Mexico, according to the newspaper.

"At 80 it's time for me to go somewhere where the people are lovely and I can enjoy a quieter, friendly life," he shared. "In Southeast Asia, healthcare is good, living is reasonably cheap, people are kind and respect the elderly, and the food is healthy."
"Mostly I just want peace. At 80, none of us know how long we have left. I want to be at peace anytime without any of the horrible drama of the last few years," he added.

Although Thomas' beach house is about 250 miles by car from Harry and Meghan's Montecito villa, he has yet to meet the Duke of Sussex and his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet.
According to Daily Mailhe accepted that his chances of meeting them now became less, but he still had hope.
Recalling the "good times" they once had, Thomas said Meghan was a "good girl" and while he "didn't like some of the things" she did, he would "always love her".
"My door is always open to her. I love her, and that will never change. I love all my children," he shared. "Meghan once told me she wanted me to stop talking to Tom Jr. and Samantha, her children from her first marriage. But what parent could agree to that?"

Speaking to the news outlet, Thomas expressed his gratitude to King Charles III for walking Meghan down the aisle during her wedding to Harry at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Thomas missed Meghan's wedding because he was suffering from heart problems which saw him undergo two heart stents just days before the event.
He had to watch the event from a rented Airbnb and showed the newspaper a doctor's note prohibiting him from traveling.
"I'm a grandfather and he's the King of England — but he's also a grandfather who would love to see his grandchildren," Thomas said of Charles, adding that he remains "incredibly grateful" to the king.

"I'm not running away. I'm going in search of a more positive life. Every day I see something about Meghan. This week it was a new TV show," he said. "I wish her no ill will. My dream is to one day be able to bring my whole family together, like a 'normal' family."

The mother of two shocked royal fans when she shared a beach video on Instagram on January 1, seemingly ringing in the new year.
Shortly after, Meghan released the official trailer for her Netflix TV series, "With Love, Meghan." The trailer shows the royal taking part in a variety of activities, including gardening, cooking and beekeeping.
She also had some famous faces in her video, such as actress Mindy Kaling and former "Suits" co-star Abigail Spencer.
