Diesel walked on stage to present the award and immediately addressed his former co-star with an unexpected shout-out. The moment marked the first high-profile interaction between the two action stars in years. Their quarrel began almost a decade ago during the production of the film "The Fate of the Furious" (the eighth part of the franchise).
While both Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson have remained tight-lipped about the root of their tension, cryptic social media posts and thinly veiled interviews have kept fans guessing.

Vin Diesel calls out Rock at the Golden Globes
As Vin Diesel took the stage to present an award at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday night, one of his first remarks was a shout-out to his well-known nemesis, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
"Hey Dwayne," Diesel said with a slightly awkward smile, prompting hesitant laughter from the star-studded crowd. Johnson seemed unfazed by the mention, offering a subtle nod and a slight smile in return.

The feud between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson
The "Fast & Furious" franchise is known for its high-octane action and explosive stunts, but behind the scenes there was real drama between two of its biggest stars: Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Their feud, which had been simmering for years, made headlines and cast a shadow over one of Hollywood's most successful film franchises.
In 2016, during the production of the eighth installment, The Fate of the Furious, tensions between Diesel and Johnson reached a boiling point. A source close to the production said People Magazinethat their problems had been "building up for months".
"Vin has been having issues with The Rock because The Rock keeps showing up late for production," the source explained. "Sometimes it doesn't show up at all and it delays the production."

Dwayne Johnson seemingly called out Diesel in 2016
The insider's remarks came shortly after Johnson posted a now-deleted Instagram message in August 2016. In the post, he appeared to call out Diesel without directly naming him. "There is no other franchise that makes my blood boil more than this one," the actor wrote at the time. "My actresses are always amazing and I love them. However, my male partners are a different story. Some carry themselves. like stand up men and real professionals, while others don't."
He added: "Those who don't, they're too much shit to do anything about it anyway. Sweetie. When you watch this movie next April and it doesn't look like I'm acting in some of these scenes and my blood boils – you're right .”

Vin Diesel tried to keep things civil
Vin seemed to try to keep things amicable with Dwayne, praising his performance in the franchise and even publicly inviting the "Moane" star to return for "Fast X."
In November 2021, Vin took to Instagram, saying that he had promised his late co-star Paul Walker that the franchise would reach a 10th installment. "As you know, my kids call you Uncle Dwayne in my house. Not a holiday goes by that they and you don't send well wishes... but the time has come," Vin wrote. "I say this out of love... but you have to show up, don't leave the franchise idle, because you have a very important role to play."
Dwayne Johnson called out Vin Diesel
Dwayne, however, saw Vin's message as "an example of his manipulation," which is telling CNN in December 2021, "I didn't like him raising his kids in that capacity, and Paul Walker's death. Leave them out of it."
Despite the tension, the two eventually managed to bury the hatchet in 2023 when Dwayne confirmed a return for "Fast X: Part 2," which is slated for a 2026 release.
"Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us," he shared on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, in June of that year. "We will lead with brotherhood and determination - and always take care of the franchise, characters and FANS we love."

Dwayne admitted that "despite our differences, me and Vin, we've been like brothers for years," explaining that they decided to put the feud behind them because their "plans are much bigger than ourselves."
However, after the 2025 Golden Globes, fans can only speculate about where their relationship stands now.
