Mary Brown is diving deeper into the loan pond with a third loan of $485,000 for her Utah guesthouse, Lizzie's Heritage Inn, which remains closed for renovations.

This comes after a year of personal ups and downs for "Sister Wives" star, who has re-entered the dating scene with a new mindset following the abrupt end of a romance earlier in 2024.

Mary Brown opened the inn in 2017 and named it Lizzie as a tribute to her grandmother.

Mary is betting on the future of her boarding house with a new mortgage, a signal that she will continue to invest in real estate. In late December 2024, the 53-year-old secured a third loan of $485,000 for Lizzie's Heritage Inn, which she closed earlier this year for renovations.

This latest mortgage brings her total loan amount on the property to over $1.1 million. In Deed of Trust obtained from The US SunMary is identified as the borrower, while Newrez LLC is listed as the lender for the December 23, 2024 loan.

The document states her legal obligation to repay the debt in monthly installments with full payment by January 1, 2055.

Mary's move is not surprising, as homeowners reportedly often take out additional mortgages to finance major renovations, which usually offer more favorable terms than personal loans.

Mary decided to secure a third loan after temporarily closing her beloved guesthouse in August 2024 for renovations.

The Utah mother-of-one's bed and breakfast was a labor of love—and a significant financial investment. According to real estate records, Mary first took out a $346,500 mortgage in October 2017 to purchase the family property.

By April 2018, she secured an additional $308,000 through another domestic driver, a type of loan with strict terms. Court documents stipulate that the property can only be used as a personal shelter, barring a rental or shared ownership arrangement. The document further states:

"The Borrower shall keep the Property available for the exclusive use and enjoyment of the Borrower at all times, and shall not subject the Property to any timeshare or other joint ownership arrangement or any rental pool or agreement requiring borrower or lease the property or give a management firm or any other person any control over the use or enjoyment of the property."

At the time, Mary was living in Flagstaff, Arizona with her then-husband Kody Brown and her ex-sisters, Janelle, Christine and Robyn.

When Mary bought her beloved Lizzie's Heritage Inn, she first faced resistance from her polygamous family. According to The US Sun, Mary asked her family for a $40,000 loan to help with the down payment, offering to cover the remaining $40,000 herself.

While her former sister-wives - Janelle, Christine and Robyn - supported the idea, Kody was reportedly skeptical, citing concerns that boarding houses "aren't big money makers."

He even wondered if he and the other wives would have a say in running the business, but Mary was firm, saying, "No, not at all."

Kody eventually refused to contribute, but Mary didn't let that stop her. She used profits from her clothing business, LuLaRoe, to finance the down payment and opened the inn in December 2017.

Mary remains positive about her future - whether it's her bed and breakfast or finding a meaningful relationship. The Blast announced that the star had taken a new approach to dating after a short-lived romance earlier in 2024.

The reality star explained that her brief exclusive relationship ended because she realized they weren't compatible. Despite the setback, Mary remained hopeful, stating that she is now having fun "all the time" and is taking it one step at a time.

She elaborated on her new dating philosophy: "You date non-exclusively, and then you're like, 'Okay, I can focus on this person. Let's be exclusive. And then, see if that works out.'"

Mary's upbeat approach comes after her split from Cody in 2023, after more than three decades of marriage.
