Just a few days before the 2025 Golden Globe Awards. Laverne Cox she announced her departure from the role of presenter Eh! 's live red carpet coverage after three successful years as the main face of the network's awards season.

On Friday, January 3, Laverne Cox revealed that she is retiring from the role of host Eh! 's reporting live from the red carpet after three years as one of the most recognizable faces of award season broadcasts.

"It is with an incredible amount of gratitude that I have decided not to return as host of the # LiveFromE red carpet show," Cox began in her Instagram post, which included a series of memorable moments from years past. "I'm so incredibly proud of the work we've done during my three-year tenure. I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone at @nbcuniversal, @eentertainment and @denofthievestv for your incredible support."

She continued: "These moments remind me of what an incredible privilege it was to talk to some of the world's greatest artists about their work, dealing with the pressures of success, etc."

Cox teased some upcoming projects she's currently working on, as she told her fans that she's looking forward to "continuing to grow, evolve and explore great possibilities as an actress, artist, presenter and speaker."

"I hope you will all continue with me on my journey of development," she added. "Tune into my new comedy series 'Clean Slate' premiering on Amazon Prime February 6th."

Considering that this announcement came just two days before the Golden Globes, many fans felt that her departure was rather abrupt.

According to Eh!Laverne Cox will not be on the Golden Globes red carpet this Sunday. Instead, "Access Hollywood" star Zuri Hall and comedian Heather McMahan will conduct live interviews with nominees and attendees throughout the evening.

The Emmy-nominated actress is set to star in the upcoming Prime Video comedy series, "Clean Slate."

The series centers on Cox's character, Desiree Slate, who returns to her hometown of Mobile, Alabama, years after leaving for New York as a teenager.

Her goal is to reconnect with her father, Harry Slate (played by George Wallace), an outspoken car wash owner. However, after receiving an email from his estranged child, Harry expected a son to appear on his doorstep, not a daughter.

"After being away for 23 years and, as she says in the pilot, having really dysfunctional relationships with men, she realizes that she has to go back to the source of the first unavailable man in her life, which is her father," Cox said. Entertainment Weeklyteasing that "over the course of the series we discover there are other reasons why she came home."

This year's film nominees for the Golden Globes offer a particularly diverse lineup, due in part to a disrupted release schedule following the twin Hollywood strikes in 2023 and a reshuffled voting body.
