Royal commentator Alastair Bruce said at the time Sky News"The palace has announced what the duke and duchess will be called. But it inadvertently sends all the wrong messages because, by convention, the proposed style is the one adopted to express divorce."

"As a result, this will be looked at again, and I'm sure an expert called the Garter King of Arms can advise," Bruce continued. "What was suggested was 'Meghan, Duchess of Sussex', but putting the name and a comma before the title is a template for a divorced woman."
