As The Blast Renner was operating his PistenBully Snow Cat, a heavy-duty snowplow weighing over 14,000 pounds, to clear snow and help his nephew after a severe winter storm. After successfully freeing the stuck vehicle, the snow cat suddenly began rolling unexpectedly.

In a desperate attempt to stop the huge machine from hitting his nephew, Renner tried to climb back into the vehicle to regain control but, tragically, he was pulled under the snowcat's tracks and crushed by the huge machinery, resulting in life-threatening injuries. .

Now, two years later, Jeremy Renner reflects on that life-changing event, thanking everyone who helped give him a second chance.

On January 1, 2025, two years after his accident, the Marvel star took to social media to express his gratitude.

"Happy New Year to you all... Ringing in my second 'ReBirthday' today," the actor began in his lengthy Instagram post. "Sending my love, respect and gratitude to the army of people it took to put me back together."

He went on to thank "every nurse, doctor, first responder," adding that he "literally owes you his life."

"With all my heart I go to my beautiful, brave nephew and the angels (my neighbors) who came to my aid and endured the chaos of 45 long minutes on the icy asphalt on New Year's morning," he continued. "I'm so sorry for all the haunting images I imprinted on all of you (I'll spare you all the meat-grinding images.)"

Body camera footage from emergency services documented the chaotic moments immediately following Jeremy Renner's snowplow accident. Video footage reveals that emergency personnel rushed to the aid of Renner, who suffered serious injuries after his 14,300-pound snow machine ran over him near his home in Reno, Nevada. The footage also captured the intense atmosphere as medical teams worked quickly to stabilize him before he was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

Renner's nephew, Alex Fries, quickly enlisted the help of the actor's neighbor, Rich Kovac, and Kovac's partner, Barb Fletcher. Together, they sprung into action, working tirelessly to keep Renner alive until EMS arrived on the scene.

"My list of gratitude is very long," Renner added in his social media post. “With the amount of love and prayers that have been pouring in from you all over the world (needing each and every one of them), my family has never left me, with some divine intervention, a little luck and a lot of miracles… Be open again. More loved ones.

Two years ago, Jeremy Renner was listed in critical condition after a devastating accident involving a seven-ton snow machine near his property in Reno, Nevada on January 1st. After a severe blizzard, Renner, who was hosting family for the holidays, took it upon himself to clear the snow and tow his vehicle stuck on the icy road.

His nephew, Alex Fries - the son of Renner's sister Kym - was in the process of detaching the chain connecting the car to the plow. Concerned for his nephew's safety due to limited visibility, Renner leaned out of the vehicle but did not apply the parking brake. In a split second, he fell out of the snow machine. Realizing that the huge machine was rolling toward his nephew, Renner tried to get back into the driver's seat, but was tragically pulled under the nine-foot-tall vehicle, which ran over him, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

Jeremy Renner was airlifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a nearby hospital, where he underwent multiple surgeries and received extensive medical care to manage his critical condition.

He suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident, including over 30 broken boneslung collapse, blunt trauma to the chest and severe orthopedic injuries, particularly involving the legs and upper body.
