Gilchrist jokingly introduced himself to Chalamet and Fanning, saying, "First, I want to let you know that I'm holding space for you."

Fanning, 26, replied, "Thank you, I'm starstruck!" Chalamet, 29, agreed with her costar's assessment, adding, "Yeah, I'm starstruck."

The pair then perfectly executed the version of their now-infamous one-finger hold Grande, 31, gave to Erivo, 37, last month.

“It is an honor to speak with you. I feel kind of starstruck,” Chalamet continued. "I was like, 'Holy s—, OK, it better be good.'

Fanning admits that she and Chalamet won't be able to top Erivo and Grande's viral moment no matter what they do.

"There's nothing we can do to make that happen, you know what I mean?" Dr. Fanning. "We can try."

The "holding space" meme originated in November when Gilchrist interviewed Erivo and Grande. Seemingly endless wicked press tour. The journalist, who memorably noted that he's into "weird media," told the pair he'd seen people "holding space" online for the song "Defying Gravity."

Grande later admitted that she didn't understand what was going on when the "holding space" talks were taking place.

"So I had no idea what any part of it meant," the pop star said diversity Earlier this month “I didn't understand the first sentence. And then I clearly didn't understand what was happening and how (Cynthia) reacted. I was like, 'Oh, what did he say, what did he hear?' And I wanted to be there because I knew something big was happening. And I didn't know how to be there."

Like the rest of the Internet, however, Grande loved memes.

"I'm really relieved that the world at this point had the same experience that I did, because I felt like, 'Oh, I'm not broken,'" he quipped. "The best thing is to really hold space with it."
