1883 Predicted the End of Yellowstone when tribal chief Steet Eagle (Graham Greene) told James Dutton (Tim McGraw) that his family's land would be returned to the Native Americans in seven generations. Yellowstone eventually reveals that Tate Dutton (Bracken Merrill) is the family's seventh-generation son, and the prophecy finally comes true.

While the aforementioned "1883" scene suggests Tate will be at the center of a violent land dispute, it turns out to be a peaceful transaction. "Yellowstone" Season 5 ends with Tate alive and well, though the same can't be said for the other characters.

Meanwhile, the son of Monica (Kesley Asbill) and Case Dutton (Luke Grimes) had some close calls with death during his childhood, after facing Mother Nature, hiring hitmen and other sinister threats. So, with that in mind, let's take a look at a time when Tate stared death in the face and somehow came out unscathed.

Tate doesn't have an easy childhood throughout Yellowstone, and his misadventures start early. In the Season 1 episode "No Good Horses", Case leaves him in a drainpipe so he can chase some criminals. However, it turns out that the tube is not a safe place for young Tate, as he encounters a rattlesnake and must kill it with a rock. Tate shows no fear and defeats the reptile by hand, but the scene emphasizes that danger can befall children in this series.

While dealing with rattlesnakes is always a threat to one's life, Tate dealt with death more directly during the season one episode "The Long Black Train." The moment takes place during what should be a relaxing fishing trip with his grandfather, John Dutton (Kevin Costner), but culminates in Tate falling into a river and nearly drowning. Fortunately, John acts quickly and saves the child before he goes under. It's a close call though.

The most intense story in the second season of "Yellowstone" puts Tate at the center of the action. The Dutton family becomes embroiled in a blood feud with the Beck brothers, who love the family land and are willing to get their hands dirty to achieve their goals. This leads to them kidnapping Tate and leaving him with a neo-Nazi militia, which is as unpleasant as it sounds. Tate is eventually rescued, but he has PTSD for a while afterwards, though he comes back around after spending some time with his grandfather.

Tate also comes close to death in the Season 3 finale of Yellowstone, when gunmen attack his family's ranch and a shootout ensues. Monica Dutton and the ranchers manage to stop their enemies and protect Tate - and their country - in the end, but the violent atrocities linger in the kid's mind for a while, and it takes him a minute to recover from the horror of it all. .

on "The finale of Yellowstone shows Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) being killed and on the family ranch is turned over to Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and the Broken Rock Preserve. However, Tate gets one of the happier endings, as his family remains unscathed from all the violence that once threatened them, and the episode ends with them making a good, honest living selling cows.

Tate's story ends with him at a cattle auction with his old man before riding a horse with his mother on their farm, watching their new cows being unloaded. This suggests that he will follow in his father's footsteps and become a rancher, as the finale makes it clear that he and Case will have to work hard to maintain their farm.

Whatever the future holds for Tate, the "Yellowstone" Season 5 finale shows that he'll probably be fine. And he deserves a peaceful life, considering he grew up in a hostile environment and was kidnapped by some unsavory characters.
