"Trip Mathieu 🤍🦋," Madeleine wrote via Instagram Sunday, December 29, welcome the newborn. "Mother and Father's World." Her post included a snap of Madeleine holding the newborn's tiny hand, alongside a small sign that read, "He's here." He also tagged Matthew in the post.
Matthew and his brother, NHL stars Johnny Gaudreauwas hit and killed A suspected drunken driver while biking near their New Jersey town in August. Matthew was 29, and Johnny was 31.

In the days following the tragedy, Madeleine shared a series of tributes to her late husband, whom she married in July 2021.

She continued: "I know you are looking up in just as much pain as I am looking up. I will keep going for you and our son. I love you so much, Matthew."
In a subsequent Instagram Story post, Madeleine wrote that Matthew was the "proudest" father and "Can't wait to be a dad," Adding, “He never missed an appointment. Can't wait for you to live vicariously through our son."
Madeline described her relationship with Matthew as "the best 14 years of my life" in a September Instagram post, noting, "Can't wait to see you again. Miss you so much."
Later that month, Madeleine Became emotional A memorial service for Matthew.
"This past week has felt like I've been trapped in a nightmare I can't wake up from," he said. “I feel numb, angry, sad, blessed all at once. Some days, the thought of this new reality is debilitating, but mostly I miss Matt."
Through tears, Madeline said she knew "Matt will be around his son for the rest of his life."
"I am so thankful God gave us a child, little Matty, to run for life, to carry his legacy," she shared. "Trip will know how much his father loved him, and I promise we'll do what we talked to him about."
Madeleine ended her speech by urging people not to drink and drive. "A ride call. Please don't put another family through this," she said.
Johnny's wife Meredith GoudreauShe was also pregnant at the time of the accident. As she prepares to welcome their third child, Madeleine vows to support her sister-in-law.
"We will forever share this heartbreaking and terrible bond," Madeleine wrote Instagram In September “However, boys cannot choose strong women as their wives and mothers of their children. We will carry each other through every season like boys do for each other. They have blessed our children. Through them we will always have a part of them on earth side forever with us."
