A 23-year-old man is facing attempted murder charges in North Carolina after a horrific attack just days before Christmas. Jami Raiziah Griffin He has been in police custody since Friday, December 27. The incident occurred in Harnett County near Barbecue Church Road in Sanford, North Carolina. He was walking down the road leading to a Dollar General. Sheriff's deputies said three people unknown to Ashanti, including Jami, threw her over a car they were traveling in, doused her in a flammable liquid and set her on fire using a cigarette.
However, investigators have discovered that Ashanti and Jami Raiziah Griffin were living together at the time of the attack. Also, according to CBS17police no longer believe that anyone other than Griffin was involved.

Ashanti Downey remains in critical but stable condition. Medical professionals reportedly treated him at Central Carolina Hospital before taking him to a local burn center.
