Rylee Arnold discovered Walker Lyons through her Uber driver
On the Christmas episode of "The Squeeze" podcast, the TV personality made some sweet confessions about first meeting her beau. According to Arnold, it all started with a day that went wrong, thanks to the annoying traffic in LA, which left her no choice but to take an Uber.
She recalled how she went out to get a few essential items in her wardrobe in preparation for her appearance on "Good Morning America." Arnold noted that she was alone and had no one in LA to hang out with since her family and friends were out of town. She explained:
"And I was like, I don't want to freaking drive right now and try to find parking at a random mall. And it's Saturday. Like, I'm just not going to do it."

“I'm getting into this Uber. It's this really nice lady And we are just like, he talks about dancing and she talks about what she's doing. And she was also like: 'Ok, this might sound really strange. Don't take this the wrong way."
Arnold discovered on podcast that her driver told her that her "nephew plays USC football," which might go well with the dancer. The driver then encouraged the dancer to check out the athlete on Instagram and connect with him if she was interested.

The 19-year-old was initially reluctant to pursue a romantic relationship
Arnold said she took the Uber driver at his word and checked on Lyons. According to her, "I looked him up and thought, 'Okay, he's cute.' So at that point I was too scared to really do anything about it, so I kind of put it in my back pocket."
The day ended and when she got home, she completely forgot about what had just happened and went back to Dancing with the Stars.
She added that she doesn't have any intense desire to start a relationship anyway. At the time, juggling love and her busy schedule seemed like a bad idea, affecting her emotional availability.

"I was like, 'You're going to die now. Like, me literally he was in his aunt's Uber a week ago,' and they're like, 'Riley, like, follow him. Now he's following him now.''

The dancer and her soccer player share numerous mutual connections
Arnold shared that she eventually discovered that she and the college football player had a lot more in common than his Uber driver aunt.
"And then I find out that my brother-in-law is actually friends with his best friend's dad, and there's a connection," the professional dancer said.
Lyons also knew many TV personality friends in Utah. She discovered that his hometown friends went to school in the same neighborhood where she grew up.
"We have a crazy amount of relationships together, so the fact that we haven't met before is kind of crazy, but I think we met at the most perfect time in our lives," she added.
The "DWTS" star decided she caved to the pressure and decided to follow him on Instagram first. She continued:
“Then he followed me back, texted me, and then he got my number and we text for a while, and then he said, 'Can I take you on a date?' And I said, 'Of course you can,' and that's where it all started."
