Baldoni responded to Lively's legal complaint through a statement from his attorney, Bryan Freedman.

He described Lively's claims as "totally false, outrageous and deliberately malicious with the intent to publicly injure her". Freedman also claimed that the actress used the lawsuit to "repeat the story in the media."

Meanwhile, Baldoni was dropped by talent agency WME following Lively's lawsuit. In addition, the Voices of Solidarity award to the director, which he received from the charity Vital Voices, has been cancelled.
