Contractors spent the past summer building sets for Hardy's new Paramount + show. 50 workers were hired for the project by a company called Helix 3D which, despite being paid by 101 Studios and MTV Studios, was ultimately unable to pay their workers.
Lost wages amounted to £250,000 or $315,000 USD. A leaked WhatsApp message from December alleged that Helix 3D did not have the money to pay its contractors.

A Paramount source told the outlet that the studio was "outraged" when it learned of the situation and was working to pay the workers.
The Times also published excerpts from a letter written by union organizer Chris Hudson to Helix 3D chief executive Brian Dowling before the payment situation was resolved.
“Our members deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and be compensated on time for their work. It is completely unacceptable that they are facing significant financial uncertainty, especially in the run-up to Christmas," Hudson wrote.
Hudson, who works for the Broadcasting, Entertainment, Communications and Theater Union, said the financial situation can affect members' mental health around the holidays.
"With Christmas just around the corner, our members are rightfully distressed, with many fearing they will be unable to cover essentials," he wrote. "I believe you can appreciate the significant impact it has on their mental health."
Hudson also criticized the lack of communication from Helix 3D.
"Given the serious financial problems Helix was in, the lack of foresight that led to this situation seems avoidable," he continued. "What was also avoidable was the lack of information and transparency provided to our members throughout their employment about the current status of Helix."
