Game prizesthe video game industry's year-end celebration, announced that its 10th anniversary show broke viewership records, up 31% with 154 million global live streams.
That's up from 2023's record-breaking 118 million live streams. As I noted from attending the event at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the show's organizer Geoff Keighley redeemed himself compared to the review of a year ago.
Through a seamless approach to global distribution through native streaming, The Game Awards has delivered over 154 million live streams across multiple digital networks including YouTube, Twitch, Steam, TikTok Live, X, Instagram Live and Facebook. Global viewership across China by a record number of networks. According to StreamCharts, there were more than 4 million concurrent viewers on Twitch, YouTube and other Western platforms, which is more than 10% higher than TGA 2023.
On YouTube, the 4K TGA channel jumped 35% to 1.3 million. Across platforms (including co-streams), TGA on YouTube grew 28% to over 2.17 million. More than 4,500 channels have co-streamed the show on YouTube, a new record.
The size of the rewards is staggering. As Joost van Dreunen of Super Joost points out, the Game Awards are more than Super Bowl viewers. It is eight times more than the Oscars, nine times more than the Grammys and 10 times more than the World Series.
The biggest moment for me was Amir Satwat's tearful acceptance speech, which helped 3,000 people find employment when the gaming industry laid off 34,000 people in 2.5 years. He received the first Game Changers award and appreciated Keighley Satwat and his work.
Satwat has helped people find work by creating an easily accessible job resource that aggregates all open jobs in the gaming industry. Some belittled him for simply making a table, but no one else did what he did. Satwat, who works all day at Tencent, is a digital and accumulated game job information that is not more than a month old and regularly updates his work in a timely manner. It organizes jobs by categories like artists and programmers so people can easily find relevant openings.
An emotional Satwat said that he cannot make great games without great people, and that his parents taught him that his value lies in the way he treats other people. He took these concepts to heart as he created spreadsheets and more to serve developers with jobs.
Is receiving this award in front of 154 million viewers a sad result? Some social media detractors blamed Satwat, falsely accusing him of various vices such as "creating a spreadsheet", self-promotion and participating in layoffs. He was not guilty of these violations, but Satwat noted that the false statements have received numerous hate messages and death threats against him and his family. I know Satwat and his Good Samaritan workand these hate messages are so wrong and wrong. Satwat became defensive in the post and many came to his side.
More than 11,000 channels on Twitch co-broadcast The Game Awards, and more than 4,500 on YouTube have created 15,900 co-channels.
Globally, TGA achieved its biggest results in China with direct distribution on a record number of platforms, including Bilbili, Huya, Weibo, WeChat, Douyin, Zhihu, DouYu, Baidu, NetEase CC, Tencent Video, QQ, Kuishou in China. , HeyBox; In South Korea or CHZZK and Soop, NicoNico in Japan.

I can't believe I'm writing this, but this year's The Game Awards was our biggest show yet, with 154 million live streams — a new record, up over 30% from 2023.
Every year I tell our team that we can't wait for the show to go on - eventually what goes up must come down - but then, somehow, more people from around the world show up and join us in celebrating video games.
Numbers aside, it was a special show for me personally and professionally. Suddenly it felt like everything was open to so many things. Most of all, I'm glad the fans and the industry like the show, and I'm sure we have the industry's best interests at heart. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the good times and through the hard times. I'm excited to think about the next decade and where TGA and gaming will go. We will continue to build, there is much work to be done.
