Party VersusA mixed-reality social party game Schell gameslaunches today as an exclusive on Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S virtual reality headsets.

This is a silly game where VR players throw balls at each other in a game of ball tag and participate in over a dozen other silly mini-games. It costs $10 and is available now in the Meta Horizon Store or free with a Meta Quest+ subscription.

developed by Schell gamesThe studio behind the Among Us VR and I Expect You To Die series, Party Versus delivers a new level of social gaming. Party Versus invites players from around the world and their friends to play over a dozen mini-games in a shared virtual space for 2-4 players who want to have casual, hilarious fun in mixed reality.

Party Versus isn't just a party game — whether you're playing Sticky Potato, Spike Attack, or Milky Way Moovers, there's plenty of fun and mayhem to be had in this wacky multiplayer experience. Play over a dozen silly mini-games (and completely twisted versions) that will make you and your friends laugh.

“Party Versus is about creating unforgettable nighttime moments with friends and family, but in a way never before possible by combining the real world with the virtual so that you can play with anyone, anywhere. We can't wait for players to experience the fun, creativity, community and pure mayhem,” said Jesse Schell, CEO of Schell Games.

This highly social game is the next evolution of standard, private game nights. When players enter Party Versus, they immediately go to the Party Lounge, and when the party starts, each player's room joins the mixed reality environment. This bendable reality setup allows players to bring their real-world furniture into action, bouncing objects off the wall or ducking behind their couch, creating an immersive and interactive experience that showcases the potential of mixed reality.

Here's a sampling of the many fun mini-games in Party Versus:

  • Hot Potato: Hurry to get out of your room before the hot potato explodes! Since your friend's room is now part of the game, throw one behind their bed or on top of their couch to make it work! Potatoes keep multiplying, which is a powerful ending.
  • Spike Attack: In this dodgeball-like minigame, grab your ammo from spawn points all over your room, but be prepared to take cover! When your opponents start throwing balls at you, the balls will pop out and be impossible to catch (just turn!). Watch out for the precious Golden Balls that appear near the center of the four rooms and time it right so you can grab them without getting hit.
  • Pop Pals: Work together to race your balloons faster in this fast-paced team-based balloon race. Order matters and numbered balls are split between your room and your teammate, so communication is key. Each ball is worth a point, but complete the set to get the bonus and the next higher ball will scatter points.

A new way to party

You can choose your game mode from Party Versus. Modes include:

  • Party Playoffs: Players compete against their friends for the Party Crown in six different mini-games. Winner - in free-for-all and team-based mini-games.
  • Instant Party: Choose any of the mini-games everyone can play together
  • Make new friends: Play with your friends in a private party or find a social party to make new friends
  • Surprised by mixed reality: Bring games directly into your gaming space, but turn your living room into a mixed reality party - even the furniture is part of the action. Quick, pay attention to the hot potato behind your couch.
  • Win Party Favors: What's a party without gifts? Win mini-games and earn wands, glow sticks and candles or share them with friends.
  • Get Twisted: Some mini-games come with a Twisted mode, meaning you can play upside down or watch your friends' rooms get completely upside down.
