Here's What Bluey Film Means for the Future of Movies

Finally, there is an update in the future Bluey. Fans of the beloved showwhich centers on the everyday adventures of the Heeler family of dogs and their canine community and was created by Joe Brumm and Ludo Studios, now has some answers about what's next. This is huge but there is some bitter news.

After her beauty end-feeling season finale at the beginning of the year, which ends with a time jump to Bluey's future as a motherfans were left with many burning questions. Not even the three of the mini-sodes gives us any kind of indication as to whether we are getting more Bluey times. Fortunately Ludo Studios has now announced that it is official: Bluey taking a movie! In a statement released by official websiteconfirmed that the BBC and the Walt Disney Company are working with the creators of the show to bring Bluey on the big screen in 2027.

The film is set to be CG, which we hope means it will step up the show's 2D look—in the style ofThe Wild Robot, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, or Disney dreams—and it's not like it's fully CG animated. That was our first gut reaction as fans of the animation, with the excitement that it also remains mostly at home as a Ludo Studio production in collaboration with BBC Studios, with Brumm on board as writer and director. The creator shared, "I really enjoyed the experience of working in the longer format of 'The Sign' in Series 3, so continuing with a feature film seemed like a natural extension of that. I've always thought Bluey worthy of a movie theater. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to come together. I look forward to continuing to work with Cecilia Persson, Tom Fussell and the team at BBC Studios, and Dana Walden, Alan Bergman, and Disney to bring this new Bluey story on the big screen.”

However, Bluey: The Movie will mark Brumm's final touch on the series he created as he exits the Bluey team afterwards. In one "difficult" to read the letter he expanded on the reasons why he would leave after the film. "I always said I wouldn't continue doing the show if I thought I couldn't make any new season as good as the last," Brumm wrote. “It was supposed to happen to me that there was a potential fourth season, so I decided to take a break from my involvement in TV series. If I can't wrap my head around doing more seasons myself, 'The Sign' will mark the end of me on TV for Bluey and I wrote it like that." the Bluey The movie is based on a transformed idea he had that inspired his cinematic coda to what is now the biggest cartoon on the planet.

He continued. "Bluey completely changed my life. It's a hugely satisfying thing to be a part of, more than I can say in words. To walk away from it while it's at such a high point seems crazy to some but, right now, I'm having a hard time coming back really into that four-to-six-year-old world and writing really."

To be honest, that does the least of it Bluey fan who is a little nervous about the pressure that might be placed on Ludo for more of the show on the BBC and Disney. But at least there is a sense of comfort that Bluey may still continue in its original home, without Brumm. "My Bluey crew and all the creative people in my life completely understand my decision. Working with such a wonderful group of people is the absolute highlight of my animation career and I hope so Bluey on their CV is a badge of pride for them,” he said. "To be clear, this is not an announcement about ending the show, but it is an acknowledgment that my focus is on the film."

Brumm stressed that this announcement doesn't mean the show is over, giving us hope that the showrunning and writing can now include more voices who love these characters. The year 2027 is so far away and it's hard to imagine more than a year away Blueyso we'll be keeping an eye out for any word from Disney and Ludo about whether we'll get a season or more mini-sodes to tide us over in between.

We hope that whatever happens, whoever stays BlueyIt allows the directors to be creative and true to the characters we love without feeling like a cash grab. If they're just ahead of the film, that's okay too—just don't mind us throwing in a Muffin Heeler-sized fit here.

Bluey: The Movie will be released in 2027.
