7 Best Bassinets (2024), Tested and Reviewed

Cradlewise Convertible Smart Cradle and Cradle (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has all the gadgets built in: a baby monitor, a bounce function, a sound machine — oh, and AI that learns and responds to your baby's sleep patterns. If your baby starts tossing or turning, Cradlewise responds by kicking on the bounce or sound machine (or both!), which means less interference with your baby's sleep and hopefully more sleep for you. You can customize the intensity of the noises and the volume of the bouncing motion and the sound machine through the Cradlewise app, so even with the help of AI, I still feel in control of the experience my new Bouncing has been key to calming him down when he gets scared a Moro reflex.

Even with all the bells and whistles, Cradlewise manages to be the minimalist adopter in a smart bassinet. The functions of bouncing and the sound machine are designed to respond as a parent, so they are not constant and are only put on when your child needs to be calm to sleep. If your baby seems to protest sleep, the bassinet will respond by increasing the bouncing motion and the volume of the sound. When you calm down and go back to sleep, all functions turn off.

Meanwhile, the app acts as the baby monitor of the bassinet. You can minimize it on your phone while scrolling through other apps, so the monitor is always on your screen. The built-in baby monitor camera isn't the best quality, but I've still found it sufficient as an anxious first-time mom. You can share the app, and the control, with your partner or loved ones.

The Cradlewise feels like an answer to the famous Snoobelow, which for a long time was the only smart option you could go to. While the Cradlewise costs more - it retails for $1,999 at the Snoo $1,695although both are often sold - it not only comes with more integrated gadgets, but it can also be used for more time by your child, since it can transform into a cradle. It can also handle children up to 33 pounds. It doesn't have a subscription fee like the Snoo, nor does it need to break into a special sleeping bag to use it. Overall, it's an investment that will last you a lot longer. —Tyler Shane

This bassinet can transform into a cradle and be used up to 24 months or when your child reaches 33 pounds.
