The Indian cricket team ended a rain-hit Day 3 at 51/4, falling short of Australia's mammoth first innings total of 445 in the ongoing third Test match at The Gabba, Brisbane. After Day 3 ended, a reporter's question about India's batting woes took a humorous turn as Jasprit Bumrah playfully drew attention to his batting abilities.
In a light-hearted moment, the Indian pacer suggested the media personnel to check Google about his batting prowess. The Indian pacer playfully reminded the reporter of his world record for the most runs in a single over in Test cricket. His humorous response caused laughter among the journalists in the press conference room.
A reporter asked Jasprit Bumrah at a press conference, “Hello, Jasprit. What is your batting rating? Although you're not the best person to answer the question, what do you think about the situation in the team given the conditions at the Gabba?"

Bumrah replied, “That's an interesting question. But questioning my hitting ability? You should use Google and see who scored the most runs in a Test. But, apart from the joke. That's another story.”
In fact, Bumrah was referring to his iconic 34-run knock against Stuart Broad during the 2022 England-India Test match in Birmingham, where he hit the experienced pacer for three fours and three sixes during his knock.
However, the Indian vice-captain stressed that in the Indian cricket team, they do not point fingers at each other, stressing the unity of the team and supporting each other in every situation.
Well, Bumrah went on to say, “You see, we as a team don't point fingers at each other, and we don't want to get into that mindset where we point fingers at each other (and say) 'we should do this, we should to do that.”

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has backed his fellow Indian bowlers, who have faced criticism for the lack of support for him in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024-25. While the rest of India's seamers have taken a combined 19 wickets so far in the Test series in Brisbane, Bumrah has single-handedly led the charge with an impressive 18 wickets.
Bumrah signed off by saying: “Obviously, like I said, we're in transition as a bowling alley, so my job is to help the others. I played a bit more than them, so I try to help them. But again, everyone will learn through it, get better and eventually find different ways. So this is a journey you will have to go through.”
