After recent setbacks like sciatica, my training is finally back on track. I'll try to post more frequently now, I think I've faded away, maybe from a bit of discouragement. I'm doing a lot of PT, stretching, and strength training to strengthen the muscles around my lower back and hips in hopes that the posterior slip won't happen again. I'm back to averaging about two hours of exercise a day, including cycling, upper body strength training, and conditioning. So far, so good!
On Friday, I rode my upright bike to the Coyote Creek Trail, but I rode the upright bike on a nearby dirt road instead of the paved trail. These are rarely used and I think they are better suited for riding, but they are also great for bikes as long as you have wide enough tires. I was able to stand upright again for longer periods of time, which I found to be a more interesting alternative to riding in a seated position.
Yesterday we went back to visit the mountains southwest of town. Cruising at around 18 mph (about 30 km/h) with a bit of electric assistance is exhilarating.
