Jaime Munguia was stunned by Bruno Surace, a fighter with just four fights, on Saturday night in the sixth round of their fight at the Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, Mexico.
Canelo Comparison
What made Surace's (26-0-2, 5 KO) most impressive bout was how he leveled the deck in the second round to come back to KO Munguia with a pinfall in the sixth round.
What about Canelo Alvarez? He was unable to stop Munguia (44-2, 35 KOs) in the May 4 fight in Las Vegas. Canelo defeated Mugnuia by a twelve-round decision, and he never came close to knocking him out.
Losing in front of his hometown fans in Tijuana, Mexico, was a bitter pill for Munguia to swallow because they all saw what happened. Its popularity declines in Mexico now.
Berlanga's Plans Abandoned
Edgar Berlanga described Munguia's death as "very difficult". He was hoping to fight him after the Mexico and Puerto Rico match on PPV. Berlanga's complaint that Munguia defrauded the fund is a valid statement.
Surace will knock out Berlanga because of the way he fought tonight. He made it easy for him like Munguia.
A fight between the two of them on PPV can't be sold, as both men are losing. It can't be bought, especially since none of them tried to win but survive.
New York native Berlanga's job is to call Surace and, if he can't, fight Caleb Plant. There is no funding for Berlanga. Canelo won't fight him again, and Munguia won't.
SMH!!!! Mungia threw the bag!!!!!!
