"Every fight is a choice. I believe in Devin, I believe in his skills. I believe in doing the right thing. I believe in getting paid for the position he's in, and proper job structure. It's more about job structure than anything else," Bill Haney told Tru Media, referring to his son, Devin Haney.

"One thing we can do is let him rest his body. He's young. He's going, he's fighting, he's still working. A lot of things went into the fight (Ryan Garcia),” Bill said of Haney.

"He was the one who said he would be out for a year, and I back his plan 100%. If he said he wanted to come back in four months, I would have supported him. He said he wanted to take a year off. He didn't say he retired. Next year, we'll have a chance to see everyone.

"We can be fans. We can follow the sport. One thing I said is that they still want to see us. I thank you for your desire to see us and follow me, brother," said Bill Haney.
