Kansas is often marked A State of FlyoverAnd it's a bad rap as a place where nothing can do and no one can see. Its residents are subject to the absence of everlasting Wizard of oz jokes. But in a population of more than 400,000, Wichita offers most of the perks found in major cities, without the residents, but they have little to know each time they leave home. People living in Wichita often say this is a “big little town” – one full of worthy, enthusiastic restaurants.

A long city book is that Wichita has many restaurants per capita than any country city. Although that is not true, outer food is definitely one of the city's primary pastimes – which I enjoy while covering the local food scene here in the last 25 years. As you expected from a city located in the middle of the cow country, Wichita is a good place to get a good steak. But it is also at the Lebanese, Vietnamese, and Mexican communities filling the city with top-rate eateries. Here are 17 of my favorites.
