Back to 2019, Grandma man shows Him Grandma in Bennett Rea his copy of South Dakota Centbook Cookbook, Published in 1989 They also think why politicians are willing to associate with things like Anniversary baby salad (Rep. Glenn English) or microwaved Super Fish (Sen. Chuck Grasley). Ra decided he had to experience these foods for himself and started posting videos and blog posts about the results. Later, Cookin 'in Congress evolved to RAA to eat like presidents, first women, and other popular numbers like Kamala Harris Over the entire days of one hour, as well as ordinary Americans in each of the 538 Congress districts. The project has not yet been risked: a weekly subscription to Diet Coke and Fast Food like Donald Trumpe's departure Dead-to-eye and fix an artichoke. But perhaps the piece of a rea resistant is the day of May when he eats like William Howard Taftan experience that requires him to consume 8,200 calories, nine different kinds of meat (including pole), and three desserts; The subsequent consecutive meat meats and 24 hours of melting and fasting ended up calling what Rea calls “An accidental mystical search outlook.”
Earlier, you ranked Presidents by the palm and Taft number one. Do you feel that?
I think he has a great palate. That's my ranking base in view of what they eat. Now, actually eating all foods, I have to do a second round. So I don't know if he's staying at the USA, most just because … I mean, possum's poskum's gonna Ding ya, clear.
How do you see its recipes, and how do you decide which day you eat?
I have a collection of perhaps four or five dozen community cookbooks. People send them to me now from around the country, very cool. Congressional Information Cooking series. The President's Cookbook By Poppy Cannon and Patricia Brooks from 1968 the basis of many daily diet practices for leaders. and Dinner with a president by alex prud's'homme a beautiful book. I used that as a resource for some time, especially for some modern Presidents like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. And then there are many archival newspapers. Have a good New York Times piece of Jimmy Carter in the 1970s of his full eating habits. That's how he knew he loved the red gravy of thick cutting ham and fried chicken and potato salad.
And so you cooked all the food on your own? Do you have any help?
I do all the cooking myself. I would say that my part of eating myself is also good. My wife's pestiques and as well as my daughter, and so they won't jump the chance to try the squirrel stew.
Well, very good excuse not.
But if food is good, we eat it, well. I did all the cooking myself at this point and I love it. That is a fun part of it because I have learned new skills. Become a better chef at home because of this. Like, even making bad meals, I started to understand how a bad recipe can be completely delicious with a couple tweaks here or there.
Why did you start eating like America?
I started to come from pure genuine curiosity. I mean, you can say it is nosy, but I'm always like, “Well, this is what I eat, but with others eating?” You know, all these presidents and politicians have homeless foods and eating habits, but like … what is left to us everyday people? And what I find is more unhealthy homeless, and it's more fun to connect with people by eating that way. That's a wonderful thing I didn't expect to get out of that series. And indeed, it reveals me to new foods I have never tried before.
Is there anything you've added with your rotation so far, even from Congress districts or from leaders?
I added Cantonese eggs scrambled from Florida software engineer. I changed like three or four times from before. I also make grace coolidge, uh … the name isn't the best, it's creamed chicken chickenBut it's the same as chicken marsala carquettes. And it's been a long time, but Herbert Hoover's Ramos Gin Fizz a good drink. I am always eager when presidents have menu cocktails.
So a question from my mom. I told her about this whole project, and she wanted to know how to handle your health.
You will be surprised, or may not, how many people reach that question.
I have a long and complex relationship with food. About 70 pounds heavier than I am today. I only eat my feelings, frankly, for years. And I have some of what I call it is getting hard to eat without knowing. I have done, by a lot of treatment and emotional help and support, pass through it and lose 70 pounds. And so I don't give the fact that I can sit and eat 8,200 calories a day and don't fall on that. So I think the answer is about your question. Someone else answers, I tried to walk. I live in a loose city. I like to exercise. And in my days, I swear I will do what I eat in a day, because that is the number one demand. Then people see it and have their feelings and its opinions and surprise how much I eat Greek yogurt.
Do you have rules for this project?
I try to brighten it. I'm a stickler that in the days, because I want to be as true as I can with the experience they have passed as President. I ran a whole day because I was getting better. But I'll get it more right than the absence of an important piece of information and an important piece of experience. So I have the internal rule for myself. My wife told me some times, “no one can know if you just …” and like, I know, I know, but I can't.
on Nixon dayI feel like you're sorry about the full condition of ketchup and cottage cheese. Are you tempted to say, “Well, did Nixon eat other things for lunch? Can I avoid it?” That would be true Nixonian, indeed.
Ketchup is something I really don't like. Cottage Cheese ketchup is definitely one of my least favorite things I've eaten in this series. I'm chasing things either. I want to try things a little odd. So if I have an option, I want to follow the fun. And for me, entertainment is like putting myself in a situation where I need to eat things I don't like. Not at the point of dishonest, obviously. So if this option is, each day is nixon even a cheese cheese with ketchup or cottage cheese with pineapple because it is more funny to be myself in that situation.
Oh, you're a masochist then.
The funny thing in the whole is it always asking me, “How about these politicians for ketchup food with cheese cheese?” Now I'm here to eat ketchup with cottage cheese. So, who's the most thoughtful, I or them? And, u, good, we may have at the same level. Who knows? The strength is half fun for me. The fact that I have a spiritual experience from Taft is – like me, I don't … a few days ago, “Wow, that's a wild.”
Do you have any tips like food like a president in the fourth part of July?
I wish you had a cookbook that was gone, but it was a little time. But if you get some sense inside you and you want to eat like a president of the fourth part of July, a squirrel guy and three to four hours cooking a day, and it's a wind.
I'll keep that.
I'll say a recipe worth doing is a recipe Thomas Jefferson. I made it before But I will do it again. It was the drunken bread, which was a giant French bread that was raised in wine and was covered with Mac and cheese on top. It's a desadent. And it's a fun to do.
