Simple recipe for German potato salad
This German potato salad is one of the simple but elegant foods that I love to make. It is Perfect Optional a Creamy potato salad! It has dense sliced potatoes, salt pork, onions, fresh herbs and vinigrette dressing of chili powder. I use fat from salted pork to add onions and produce vinegar, so each bite is amazingly smoking pork. You can serve it hot or cold. I have both done both and this is always a hit.

- 2 LBS. Small red potatoes ($ 5.10 *)
- 1.5 Tsp Salt (Split, $ 0.04)
- 4 The burden. Saline ($ 1.22)

- 1 Tbsp Stone ground mustard ($ 0.07 ***)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar ($ 0.06)

- 1/4 Cup Fresh parsley (Chopped, $ 0.21)

Wash the potatoes well, then add the potatoes to a large pot with water enough to cover the potatoes. Add 1 TSP salt in the water while cooking potatoes. Place the lid on the pot, raise the heat and boil the pot. Continue to boil until the potatoes easily peel (12-15 minutes).

In the meantime, add the salted pork to a large skate and cook on medium heat until the bacon is brown and crisp. Remove the cooked bacon from the skillet and leave the sliced pork in the skillet for cooking onions and dressing.

Add chopped potatoes, salted pork and parsley to the skilet with onions and dressings. Toss everything until evenly combined and coated in the dressing. Give a taste of the potato salad and adjust the salt or other seasonings to your liking. Serve warm or refrigerate until you are ready to eat.

How to make a German potato salad step-by-step


Boil the potatoes: Wash 2 LBS. Small red potatoes good. Put them in a large pot and add enough water to cover them with an inch. If you are making this recipe for a party or a potato, you can easily create the next day. I cook potatoes and bacon pork and make a dressing, but place everything in a separate airtight container in the fridge. Then, when you are ready to serve, mix the dressing into the funnbine (it may separate during storage) and toss with potatoes and salted pork.
