Chef Tiffany Derry accompanies his call as the Dallas's Most Cheated Chef. Last year, he launched a celebrity chef food festival, Shef food and wine. He also opened a new restaurant, Radiciand this year opens its second location. Oh, and somewhere there, he made time to join Masterchef As the latest Judge. Eater Dallas was caught up to talk about how he had told her teacher Bobby Floy, what the television movie liked, and if his choice was for the best-baked shows winning.
Eater: How did you end up with a host to Masterchef?
Tiffany Derry: I do what I have to do, and I get a call. I don't know what it is – I know it's for the fox, and the man who came a producer I used to work. They are really Hus-hush. The weeks passed before they called again to ask, “Hey, you know the show we talked about?” I'm like, “No? What does it show?” it Masterchefand they look at making some changes. They told me I was in the first picks, that Gordon Ramsay The love that work with me, and some people in (production company) Endemol Shine knows me from me Bar rescue. I no longer hear anything else for weeks. We had similar conversations about five years ago that no more, so I decided not to make fun. Then, suddenly, I got a call and they were like, “feeling!” And they told me I wanted me to be the new judge. I am not talking to anyone or have been tested. They just feel like they all know me. It's a strange and incredible. I believe that what is for you for you, and it is a perfect example. I didn't do anything; I don't follow it. I love working with Bobby Floy, Brooke Williamson, and Michael Vollagnio on Triple threat. After this, I know I need to talk to Bobby. (cringes)
How was the conversation?
I was nervous because we found our (rhythm). As many times he will never change the group, and he wants to work with us, so I feel bad, in a way. But about me wants to know what Masterchef about. It's great, it's fox. When I called him, he was like, “TIFF, you are my friend and whatever you want to do, do it. And do it what's best for you. And I started to cry. He was a good man in my life.
How to film a judge Masterchef Race?
Easier if you don't compete. It's easier for meaning that my mind doesn't have to focus on competition, that's a different thing. I need to get together. Sometimes I don't want to smile because I want to keep focused. Masterchef Happened, I eat and talk, and I love everything about it. It runs like a machine with oil. Return now as a full-time judge is similar, but there is more to production we are a part of. You almost feel like you're a producer. There's a lot of conversation about every aspect of where you go, where the participants, how everyone else maneuver, how the cameras are, the hours of challenge – it's so much information, and I love it. I haven't been part of a production of where I help not just call shots but helps make it better.
This season has duos than a person. What happens when your partner is not on your level?
You bring that partner, you know who you have! You know what they do, you can't surprise. If I can take a mate, I choose someone who chooses me and good things I'm not strong. In the TV world, sometimes you are like, “O my God, give me something to work here.” They are worried, they may not always say. With a duo, someone will explode energy in force. There is also mental support – one is unable to do good and something. They have a partner to help bring it to where it needs to be.
You are in Bravo's Top chef, Many food networks displayed, and now Masterchef in fox. What is the difference in networks?
Everything is different. There are shows where you know you are the talent, but you're not really treated like talent. A big difference is cooking budget. Meaning, out-of-studio shoots. It blows in my mind, and they also say that it's less money than ever. I love being outside, and those challenges remind me of myself doing it. The days of the field are my heart. Outgoing is more chaos in a way, because you think of the light, camera angles, all things, especially when it's raining. There will always be an element that puts all over the edge. I like it.

You are a chef that is unique to qualify for that situation because you spend a lot of time cooking events.
You have to adjust to not in the kitchen, where you have everything you want. You also need to think about what you need and create the menu. Out you, so you put things in a grill, frying things – but what can you do with a loud day?
Which version of Tiffany Derry do we see in the show?
In that space, it feels like a sports arena, and your job is coach. That's when you get the Tiffany to be inside, side by side, pushing you to get the food. At the end of the day, someone will go home if you don't. If we judge every day, I want people to walk more than they have when they come. Every dish I cooked, I'm always looking for which feedback I can get to use it to make it better or better the next time. So, I tried to give them some nuggets to help. There are always greater moments for me, like any time someone talks about family or grandmothers. I need to stop myself and say, “You're good, Tiffany, it's not your grandmother.” (Laughs) I love people, and I am glad if they are happy and winning something.
What happened to your life while you filmed?
I am in the middle of Shef food and wine. I left Saturday night at FIELT FIELD FIELD next day. I'm not there on Sunday morning. It's the longest I've published. There are 16 or 17 stages; That's exactly different. Also, keep yourself, there is energy, with something bright and new to say, and find different ways to describe a dish for a lot of fatigue. I want to make sure I can keep.
Duo's country you expect to win well or go for a long time?
I will go with: I think so. There are always surprises on the road, and people better than some challenges. At least one of the couples I think of having the potential from the first cook. It's rocky, with cooking all the time. There are many times when people who cook well went home because of a period. You never know. Sometimes it's not just your day.
