In a nutshell
We tasted 19 tortilla chips, which is probably found at the local supermarket or on the Internet. To find the best, we took each one without knowing which one is. We win the haste maiz corn tortilla chips with sea salt.
This week, I gave my colleagues a very difficult task to taste the bags and bags tortilla chipset. And in return, they were the same challenge to decipher their answer. It turns out that most of my colleagues love tortilla chipset, even in itself, dotted salsa or guacamoleor to make nachosTo Taco pizzaand soup– As their answer transmitted, I encountered notes like “I Love Chips” co -editorial director Megan And “All right, I think?” from our editorial director Daniel– Cruel, because I may be forcing my colleagues to choose a favorite tortilla chip, this had to be done.
To find the best tortilla chip, our editors added 19 different tortilla chips, which are likely to be found in the local supermarket or on the Internet. Each was placed in bowls and then put them in random order without knowing which chip. After tasting 19 different chips, we tabulated the results, and crowned a comprehensive winner and, along with several second place places, which we would be happy with in our own chamber.

The criteria
The great tortilla chips should be crisp and tasteful: it should be like MASA – made from nixamalized corn – which is traditionally used to prepare corn tortilla. Chips must be earthy and fashionable. They have to be strong enough to immerse themselves into Guacamole or Salsa without falling apart, but not so thick that it is difficult to bite. And while the salt is essential, they should not be too salty – just so well seasoned to be happy the chips alone.

Daniel gave these chips a high score and left only one comment: “good.” Megan, our resident chips lover thought that these chips have a “nice tasteful corn taste” with a solid crunch. Like Megan, I thought that these chips have a distinctive taste, unlike the others. It had a pronounced and deep -earthy corn taste that reminded me good quality tortillas It is made from freshly ground masas.

Although no brand really gave the Siae for the money, all tasters enjoyed the chips of each of the brands. If you can't find a hurry, place them in a bowl with some homemade Guacamole and Salsa, and no one will complain. (If they complain, go on and show them to the door.)

Our winner, the Siete Foods Maív Corn Tortilla Chips, is the only brand that determines that the ingredients use nixtamalized corn in the list of ingredients. NIXAMLATION The process of soaking and cooking dried corn seeds with alkaline ingredients, such as calcium hydroxide (I shake lime); As Daniel touches his belt corn tortilla recipeThis removes corn bran and facilitates grinding into MAS and makes the corn more crucial and nourishing. Given how much this process affects the taste, we recommend that you keep in mind another brand that uses nixamalized corn if you do not find this brand.
Most chips are made with yellow corn or white corn. Out of all tasted tortilla chips, our winner is the only brand that uses a mixture of yellow corn and white corn to the chips, which is likely to contribute to the more complex taste. Interestingly, these chips are only made from a kind of oil – avocado – for the usual mixture of oils used to produce tortilla chips, such as sunflower, saffron, vegetable oil and/or rapeseed oil.
As the Siete Foods rose to the top, the tasting team didn't really like the chips. We are glad to eat any of them, especially for salsa or other dives.
Our testing methodology
All flavors are completely hidden and do without discussion. Tasters taste the samples in random order. For example, tasting may first taste the sample, while the B tasting will first taste the six samples. The purpose of this is to prevent the fatigue of the palate unfairly securing one pattern. The tasters are asked to fill out our tasting pages, which rank the samples to various criteria. All data are tabled and the results are calculated without an input of editors to get the least impartial representation as possible.
