“This recipe is exceptional! Don't hesitate to make it. I was very happy with the results. I used organic whole white flour and organic cane sugar and semi-sweet chocolate for the drizzle and it turned out fantastic. I think they are better than cookies, just sweeter. No, so satisfying! The whole family loves them. Appreciate the simplicity!”

What is biscotti?
Biscotti, also known as cantucci, are Italian biscuits (or cookies) that are baked twice to give a delicious crunchy texture that's perfect for dunking into your favorite hot drink. American versions are generally slightly softer and sweeter than traditional Italian recipes; They come in a variety of flavors and are often dipped in chocolate. The recipe we have today is definitely American-style, something you'll find in coffee shops in the US.
To make a simple homemade biscotti, you will need the following ingredients:
- Flour: A base for any biscuit or cookie! We used all-purpose flour to keep the recipe simple. If you are using a different type of flour, remember that you may need to adjust the amount of flour to keep the dough evenly moist.
- Baking Powder: It is a leavening agent for dough. They are not very light and airy cookies, so not much yeast is needed.
- Sugar: These treats are slightly sweet but not as sweet as a normal cookie. We use white granulated sugar to add sweetness and a crunchy texture.
- butter: Using butter as a fat adds a lot of flavor and helps keep the texture nice and crisp.
- Eggs: Acts as a binder and gives the dough some moisture, so it stays a little soft in the middle.
- Vanilla or almond extract: A little extract gives the dough just a hint of flavor. Almonds are typical, but we used vanilla, which goes well with the white chocolate we used for decorating.
What else can I add?
This is where things get fun. you can add Many Make different ingredients and a million different fun flavor combinations. Here are some of my favorite additions:
- Chocolate chips or cocoa powder (stir into batter)
- dry fruits

- Coconut
- Other flavor extracts (lemon, orange, peppermint, etc.)
- Dip each cookie in melted chocolate or drizzle with flavored icing
You really don't need much to make this recipe, just a few pantry staples, which means they'll usually be budget-friendly (about $0.17 each!). Plus, the recipe is straightforward and doesn't require any special equipment or advanced baking skills. This makes it a great choice for novice bakers or those looking to save some money while satisfying their sweet tooth. And with endless flavor possibilities, you can easily adapt this recipe to your personal flavor preferences and use whatever you already have on hand!

Storage instructions
Allow your homemade biscotti to cool completely to room temperature before storing to avoid trapping any steam or moisture. Once cooled, store in an airtight container for up to two weeks. They can be wrapped tightly and frozen for longer storage. Thaw at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving.

Need some flavor combination ideas? Well, you're in luck. I've tried and tested many variations on this already delicious base recipe, and I can't wait for you to try it!
Almond Apricot
wow This combination is pure magic. Add a handful of chopped dried apricots and some almond extract to the batter to make it tastiest Almond Apricot Biscotti. It is sweet, savory and perfect with a cup of coffee.
Cinnamon spice
I always make this variety at Christmas time! Mix a little cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves into the batter to make a warm and toasty one Cinnamon Spice Biscotti. And I know I listed the cinnamon sugar topping as 'optional'… but come on, it's the holidays- go all out and sprinkle some on top!
Double chocolate
I will never say no to chocolate, let alone twice. Cocoa powder is a delicious addition to this biscuit dough, as are chocolate chips! This variation also works with added extras, such as orange extract (the chocolate is orange Always Delicious) and peppermint extract. Trust me; It is heavenly.
Cranberry Almonds
Add any leftover dried cranberries and pecans from your holiday baking to this recipe for a festive treat Cranberry Almond Biscotti! The tartness of the cranberries pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the batter, and the almond crumble adds a lovely texture. Pecans work great here too! There will be a drizzle of white chocolate.
